Thank you for your contribution that helped to make Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge’s 11th Annual Children’s Fishing Derby a resounding success.  We had 98 children aged 1-16 years old participate in our event this year, accompanied by 186 adults and other family members and assisted by about 20 volunteers and staff, resulting in a total of over 300 people present at the event.  Many children caught the state limit of 5 brook trout during the 2-hour event.  All businesses, organizations, and agencies that contributed to the event were announced to the assembled crowd just prior to the beginning of the derby.  As the prizes (some random drawings and some based on biggest fish caught) were awarded to the participants, the name of the business/organization/agency that donated each prize was announced.  The winners were all very excited to receive their prizes and everyone was grateful for the food, drinks, and other goodies provided at the event.  Many of the kids, parents, and volunteers stated that they are looking forward to next year’s derby!
